Day 117 - Beijing Opera

Day 117, December 6. We had a great time at the Chinese Opera in Beijing. On top of it being a quality show, the fact that we could take photos of everyone getting ready to perform made it even better!

Day 115 - Haerbin Hottie

Day 115, December 4. There was a fashion show going on in the streets of downtown Haerbin. Good thing it was for fur coats, because it was cold out! It was kind of a strange thing to come across here, but this is a town full of surprises (like Chinese people trying to speak Russian with us). We also found the first Walmart we've ever seen in China! I got excited when I saw someone on a bus with a Walmart bag, so the hunt began, and eventually we found it. I could have used that a couple months ago, too bad we're going home soon... Haerbin, China.

Day 113 - Hot Corn on a Cold Day

We walked around Dandong some more and went to a museum about the US in the Korean War. I really like Dandong because it is so bustling- even with the freezing temperatures, vendors are still out in full force.

Day 112 - Snow and North Korea

Day 112, December 1. We are in Dandong, right on the border with friendly North Korea. There is snow on the Great Wall! And, no tourists! We walked this stretch of the wall that they were kind enough to shovel for the few tourists that come through, but most of the rest of the path was covered in fresh snow and we were able to leave our tracks all over it. Dandong, China.

Day 110 - The Great Wall of China at Badaling

Day 110, November 29. This is the most popular place to see the Great Wall of China. There were a lot of people there, but we waited until near sunset and were able to photograph it without tourists (we barely caught the last bus though!). It's so cold, and we're so close to a snow in Beijing. It would have looked awesome. Badaling, China.

Day 108 - Forbidden Palace

Day 108, November 27. Just as we were heading into the area of the Forbidden Palace, hundreds of people were filing out. At first we just thought these thick crowds were typical of China, but we found out that there was a protest going on. A dirty van full of protesters drove into the palace area, causing all the army guys to tell everyone to get out. I took a few photos but got into trouble and had to stop. Beijing, China.

Day 107 - Jinmao Tower

Day 107, November 26. Today Mark and I separated for the first time on our trip (yes, 107 days of non-stop side by sideness). Mark really wanted to check out the museums, and I really wanted to get this shot for my own personal photo collection. It's the Jinmao Hyatt tower, located in the new, fancy area of Shanghai (across the river), called Pudong.

Day 105, November 24. We flew from Kunming to Shanghai. This was my favorite part of Shanghai- the laundry hanging from apartments in the traditional areas.
